Employer event

The Careers and Enterprise team connects thousands of Queen Mary students each year with graduate and early careers recruiters. Taking part in a Queen Mary event can boost your brand recognition, advertise your vacancies and shape your workforce for the future.

Throughout the year, we will be running a variety of Careers Fairs, Workshops, Panels, and Inclusion Events. For 21/22, events with multiple employers will be held online and we will welcome employers onto campus for workshops and promotional stands. Read more about Queen Mary’s latest updates.

Thursday 30th June

We are excited to announce that our 2022 Virtual Careers Fair taking place Thursday 30th June, 10:00am -2:00pm

This event will take place virtually. Targeted at final year students, each attending employer will have the opportunity to 'pitch' the organisation and available opportunities. Following the pitches, employers will have a breakout room for students to visit and ask follow up questions. It is a great opportunity to engage all attendees and increase name recognition.

The event is free of charge to attend and is exclusively for organisations who have live opportunities on the event date.

Both Queen Mary virtual fairs will be hosted with our experienced platform provider from 2020, Graduateland. At the virtual event there are 4 ways to engage with our brilliant students:

  • 1-2-1 chats - You can view students’ profiles and start a conversation, or a student can start a chat with you based on topics you provide. The chats can then be allocated to the relevant colleague who is logged in. From this 'chat' you can suggest an ad-hoc video call with the student.
  • 1-2-1 booked video call – You and your colleagues can pre-book video calls with interested students.
  • Drop in rooms – Students can drop into a group call to ask questions or hear more about your organisation.
  • Live presentations – These will take place during the event, students can listen in and ask questions, and can continue exploring the event with the presentation in a separate window. There are a limited number of live presentations and they will have an additional cost. 

At the 2020 fair employer 'stands' received an average of 79 visits, 35 incoming chats and 26 outgoing chats. That's on top of the many valuable 1-2-1 video calls. It takes 15 minutes to populate your profile which can feature job opportunities and videos. We recommend 2-4 representatives are online for the duration of the event. We will provide full support for using the platform and if you attended the 2020 fairs, your same log in/stand can be used with a few minor changes.

Prices are 50% of our usual on campus events and invoicing takes place after the event.

"The experience at Queen Mary was incredibly positive and stood out amongst the many fairs we attended. Firstly the team have been so supportive in answering our MANY questions about the functionality of the platform and also just making sure our  online booth was up and running properly.
The platform that QM use is also the best one on the market (in my opinion) from an employers perspective as there are different ways to engage with students (public/open chat, private chats, phone or video calls) and also you are able to view and search profiles so even if the booth is a bit quiet you can search and message candidates that look like they might be a good match for your programmes ad send them messages about your opportunities.  
Last but not least, having fairs virtually meant we can actually do more. Often it’s difficult to get folks from the business to agree to take a full day or half day off to come to fairs but the beauty of online is that you can dip in and out (if you need to!) and has fostered a bit more internal engagement in career fairs."

In term time we hold Monday and Wednesday lunch sessions for employers to host exclusive workshops for Queen Mary students. These can take place online or on-campus.
