What should I expect from appointments and events?

Your first point of contact for Careers activities will be workshops and events. Here you can develop the skills required for the industry you wish to go into.
If you have outstanding questions after events, we offer many drop-in and appointment types that you can book on the Careers Hub under ‘Events’ or ‘Appointments’.
What should I do if I am unable to attend?
You must cancel if you can’t attend- this is very important as appointments book up quickly and we don’t want other students to miss out on an available slot – it is also considered very unprofessional in UK culture to not attend or be late without cancelling. You can cancel online in advance of your slot or by emailing careers@qmul.ac.uk.
Multiple missed appointments will result in you not being able to use the service for a period of time. Please note that you are permitted two appointments per type per term maximum so please come to events and drop-ins first as we can answer your questions there and learn from our team of Careers Consultants and industry professionals.
I’ve just started my studies here at QMUL. How do I adjust to life in the UK?

How can I ensure my English meets the standards for employer networking events or interviews?
The In-Sessional Programmes here will help you develop your professional communication skills. We recommend you invest time in this from the very beginning of your course to ensure you are best prepared when the time comes. We would also encourage you to join societies and improve your conversational English, which will increase your confidence in speaking freely. Societies are also a great way to make like-minded friends, learn a new skill that employers value, and add to your employability.
