What is QTaster?
Would you like to find out what your chosen career path is really like? Are you looking to gain more insight into a sector? Or do you just have no idea where to start with making your career choices? QTaster gives you the opportunity to gain an insight into different sectors, working environments and roles across a range of graduate employers.
What will a QTaster virtual session involve?
All QTaster sessions will take place online. These may include:
- Presentations by different speakers from across the organisation
- Virtual tours of the offices
- Information about their internship and graduate recruitment processes
- Interactive online activities
- Facilitated online networking sessions
- And, of course, the opportunity to ask lots of questions!
The online skills sessions will outline how to make the most of the online sessions and how to apply your new commercial awareness and professional networking skills to shape your career choices.
What is the time commitment?
QTaster takes place 3 times a year:
- Semester A (September - December)
- Semester B (January - March)
- Summer (June)
Each programme requires you to attend 3-4 employer visits/online sessions and 2 skills sessions.
If you take part in QTaster in Semester A or Semester B, all the sessions take place on Wednesday afternoons. QTaster Summer is a condensed version of the semester programme, so sessions will take place over two weeks in June.

Can I choose which employers I visit?
You can provide preferences and we will try our best to allocate based on these. This may not always be possible, but remember, it is all about different experiences and exploring organisations who are new to you.
Is QTaster for me?
QTaster is ideal if you have ever had any doubts or uncertainty about your future career path – the programme gives you a real life insight into individual roles and sectors. It could confirm you are happy with your current direction or you might be inspired by an area you have never heard of! Due to funding, QTaster is only open to Undergraduate students and a limited number of Post Graduate students.

What have previous QTaster participants said?
“My experience with QTaster has been nothing but positive. During a pandemic, networking opportunities were scarce and QTaster was able to provide invaluable insight into reputable companies through virtual, engaging sessions.”
Is there support for the travel costs?
