To all self-identifying women and non-binary people, a very warm invitation to join us at the Women's Careers Cafe! Coming soon...
The Women’s Café is a mobile café that holds events every month which cover a broad range of subjects and themes surrounding the lives of racialised women, non-binary, and gender variant people. We want to transform campus events by hosting a relaxed and alcohol-free café that centres QMUL students, staff, and alumni who identify as a woman of colour or a Global South woman.
The Women’s Café focuses on community building, self-care, and improving the career prospects of racialised women in the workplace and academia. The Café seeks to build a space of belonging for women who have felt a disconnection from the wider world due to their identity and resulting experiences.
All our sessions take place in St Benet’s Chaplaincy yurt from 5-7 pm. We provide a range of hot and cold snacks, cakes, and hot drinks – all free of charge and in beautiful surroundings! Join us for a warm and uplifting evening.
Monday 25th September, 5-7pm, St Benet’s Chaplaincy Yurt.
Welcome to the Women’s Café! In our first session of the academic year the Café will be asking attendees to visualise their future selves in a creative scrapbooking session. Attendees will have the opportunity to scrapbook their hopes, goals and wishes for university, careers and beyond.
We will be introducing the Women’s Café programme for the next year, with Careers and Enterprise in attendance to present career tips and enterprise opportunities available at Queen Mary for women of colour. Attendees will also be able to socialise and network with fellow women of colour/BAME students at the university.
We aim to have important conversations about our present and future in a laid-back atmosphere.
As always, our sessions take place in St Benet’s Chaplaincy yurt from 5-7 pm. We provide a range of hot and cold snacks, cakes and hot drinks – all free of charge and in beautiful surroundings!
