Project Details:

Title: Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence approaches to the study of cardiovascular disease systems biology

Summary: 4-year MRes+PhD systematically investigating genomic regions with reported association with blood pressure and cardiovascular traits. Investigation involves machine learning, within 1) SNPs in linkage disequilibrium across loci evaluated for functional impact on genes and regulatory regions, using a variety of genomic annotation resources. 2) Genes in cardiovascular loci evaluated for loss of function mutations in Genomics England cohorts, these “human knockouts” will be correlated with blood pressure and other cardiovascular phenotypes. 3) All genes showing cardiovascular association will be characterised and analysed at a gene set level to identify common pathways and mechanisms underlying blood pressure and cardiovascular pathology.
