BUSM028 Multinationals and Global Business
This module aims to introduce students to central debates about the relationship between global economic integration and economic development, highlighting the role of multinationals in this relationship. Over roughly the past 40 years we have experienced a relatively long period of intensified global integration, involving nearly all economies on the planet. This period has been characterized by a distinctive vision of what constitutes globalization, with strong shift towards markets, manifested through the reduction of barriers to trade, privatization, the deregulation of capital markets, as well as a push towards the harmonization of political-economic institutions. Under these conditions, Multinational enterprises have flourished becoming major players on the global stage, with networks of relationships forming complex supply chains.
