My PhD is examining the value of process evaluations in pragmatic RCTs of complex interventions in health services research.  Using case studies, I am exploring how researchers understand and aim to maximise the value of the process evaluations they conduct.  The knowledge gained in this study will be useful to guide researchers to plan and conduct process evaluations in a way that maximises the value of both the process evaluation and pragmatic RCT, in the often challenging context of health services research.

I have a background as a clinical research nurse, and have an interest in research methodologies and the practical conduct of health research, especially clinical trials.  I have published a qualitative study exploring the clinical nurse specialist role in inviting patients to participate in research, undertaken as my Master’s dissertation.
