Profile

Shiva gained a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacology from London Metropolitan University in 2009, followed by a Master of Science degree in Clinical Pharmacology from University of Surrey in 2013. She started working as a clinical trial assistant at the Bart’s and the London NHS trust, Whipps Cross Hospital in 2013, working on Phase III Dermatology (Psoriasis) and Neurology (Multiple Sclerosis and Epilepsy) clinical trials. In 2014, she moved onto the sister research site at the Royal London Hospital, working on a commercial randomised controlled Gastroenterology clinical trial, aiming to find the effect of probiotics on chronic constipation. She has contributed to successful recruitment to time and target, as well as execution and completion of this trial.

She joined Queen Mary University of London, National Bowel Cancer Research in January 2015 as a Clinical Research Coordinator working on the NIHR funded CapaCiTY programme. In 2018 Shiva was appointed as the Senior Trials Manager and is leading on the CapaCiTY programme, which is a UK multicentre,research project for development of a UK evidence-based pathway for the management of chronic constipation in adults. Shiva is responsible for the successful setup, execution and completion of this programme in compliance with the protocol, UK Research Governance Framework, Good Clinical Practice, sponsor and PCTU SOPs. She also has oversight on all other studies currently taking place in the unit, as well as being responsible for information governance as the unit’s assistant information governance lead.

Shiva has achieved the Academy of Clinical Research Professionals (Academy) Certified Clinical Research Coordinator designation in September 2017. She is a member of the UK Clinical Trial Managers Network, British Pharmacological Society and Association of Clinical Research Professionals.
