The course consists of two days of interactive problem-based sessions followed by a third day of small group workshops. The second day is dedicated to the memory of Professor David Wingate, one of the founding fathers of the speciality of Neurogastroenterology and the founding director of the Wingate Institute of Neurogastroenterology, allied to Queen Mary University of London.

Neurogastroenterology disorders are the most likely reason for patients to present to GI outpatient clinics. Despite major clinical advances in the field of neurogastroenterology and motility in the last decade, there is very limited training in evidence-based management and physiological investigation of these disorders.

This three-day course, delivered virtually by an international panel of experts, is aimed at doctors, dieticians and nurses and other health care professionals who manage patients with functional gastrointestinal disorders. The first two days will consist of interactive problem-based sessions to cover the basic pathophysiology and evidence-based treatment of functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs), including the role of diet, microbiota, psychology, and lifestyle interventions. The third day will involve small group workshops covering upper and lower GI physiology performance and interpretation, dietetic intervention and biofeedback.
