The creative industries present opportunities for students to learn, to engage in practice-based research, and to develop the skills they need to compete in a changing economy. The Media Arts Technology programme exemplifies how cultural projects can help students to acquire skills which increase their employability.
Students across the university are also taking advantage of work placements, internships, volunteering and graduate training schemes in the creative industries. QProjects and the Careers Services are on hand to support student entrepreneurs and researchers. Queen Mary University of London also facilitates graduates’ transition into London’s cultural industries through projects such as Air Supply in the Department of Drama. Working in the cultural sector improves our students’ career opportunities, and is a rewarding way of continuing to explore their own creativity after graduation.
