Queen Mary University & Students’ Union run the Reuse Scheme to promote a circular approach to waste produced at the University. Through the twice annual project, outgoing and incoming students work together to save money, take care of our planet by reducing waste, limit resource use & lower carbon emissions.

After collecting items from departing students in May and June 2021, we'll be giving away bedding, towels, kitchenware, crockery and stationery (as well as some other useful household surprises!) to new students at September's Reuse Fair.

Where: Student’s Union Hub (building no.34 on the campus map)
When: Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th September 2021 12pm-4pm

Students can register for a free ticket and find out more through the Students' Union website.

We ask that you follow the below measures to keep us all safe;

  • One-way system, socially distanced queueing and staggered entry
  • Hand sanitiser available at entrance and exit
  • If you or someone you live with have been experiencing suspected COVID-19 symptoms, please do not attend
  • Frequently handled items will be sanitised at regular intervals
  • All items should be washed before use and any electrical items PAT tested

All items were donated by students last year to stop usable items going to landfill. Items go quickly so turn up early to avoid disappointment.

Since the introduction of the Reuse scheme in 2017 we have diverted 3500kg of usable items and growing each year with over 1000kg collected in May and June 2019 alone. Find out about donating to the Reuse Scheme.
