1 September 2016
We will be holding a multitude of activities from 10:00am-15:00pm, in Library Square and outside of the Curve:
We will be launching our brand new Green Mary campUS challenge at Green Mary Day 2016. The campUS challenge will include a competition between the halls of residences to see who can save the most energy and will also include monthly photo competitions. We have lots of prizes on offer throughout the year so make sure you keep an eye out. If you come and take a selfie with our Instagram frame on Green Mary Day you could win some fantastic prizes!
We’ll also be out in force to talk to you about sustainability here at QMUL and all of the different training opportunities and events you can get involved with, so look out for our Green Mary Gazebo and 2 smoothie bikes from Love Smoothie Bike who we’ll also have under our gazebo. Make sure you come over and pedal for a healthy smoothie!
We will have sustainable caterers set up outside The Curve so that you can find out about and also sample some delicious sustainable and Fairtrade products.
One of our catering suppliers, URBAN eat is also bringing along an inflatable slide in the shape of a BLT (this will be next to France House)!
As well as the smoothie bikes and free food outside of the Curve, we’ll have other sustainability related stands from Veolia who will be bringing their baby-bot “R3 Cycler, the Clean and Green Team from Tower Hamlets Council who will be promoting their volunteering days and informing staff and students about how they can get involved and of course there will be giveaways to help you reduce your environmental impact.
In addition, we will also be running free tours of the library solar panels and our new Green Mary garden – further information about the tours will be available soon, so please do keep an eye out on for the latest information on these.
Dyson will be on site promoting the installation of a range of their products in the Library. They will also be showcasing some of their products and running a competition on the day – keep an eye out for some Dyson goodies!
To help us to promote sustainable travel, we will have a range of fantastic stands which will include free security marking of bicycles by the police, free bike maintenance and a bike sale by Recycle Your Cycle. Recycle Your Cycle run bicycle repair workshops within prisons to assist in the rehabilitation of prisoners, the resale of the refurbished bikes then in turn support numerous worthwhile causes..
Prices start from just £40 so if you’re looking to start cycling, talk to one of the experts in Library Square!
