The William Harvey Research Institute - Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry

BSc Pharmacology and Innovative Therapeutics

Pharmacology is the study of medicines. Identified as a major skills deficit by pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, this three-year programme was designed in discussion with biopharmaceutical and research leaders to equip graduates to meet the shortfall, to progress into or apply for entry to training in medicine or dentistry.

Led by the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and co-taught by the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences, you will:

  • explore basic molecular and clinical pharmacology
  • develop laboratory expertise
  • understand the clinical trial and regulatory pathways bringing new drugs from ‘idea’ through to the patient.

What our students say

"The versatile and unique nature of the course was what appealed to me the most. I also liked that we would be taught by scientists at a world-leading research institute. Once I started studying, I never once regretted my decision."
