Partner Summer School Programme

QMUL works with a number of institutions around the globe and this programme offers our students the chance to spend time at one of our partner institutions over the summer on a language, academic or cultural immersion programme. Programme details vary in length, cost and content, but all QMUL students are eligible to apply.

The application for summer 2017 is now open. Applicants will be asked to apply online, where you will be asked to complete your details and list your top three summer schools in order of preference.

University of Antioquia, Medellin, Colombia

Limited spaces available- Please apply here by April 19th 23:59. 

Tuition fees and accommodation: £730 for programme, accommodation and breakfast. Students will be required to pay for travel, other food and any extra costs.
Dates: 19th June – 8th July 2017
Details: The University of Antioquia is an excellent partner and will offer classes in Spanish Language, Latin American Literature, ‘Healthy Cities’, Biodiversity and more. Medellin is a beautiful city with an interesting history, and last year was voted the world’s most innovative city. We have 20 places available on this exciting summer school.

Rio De Janeiro with AfroReggae and People's Palace Projects

Dates: 1st- 9th July 2017 

Details: In its third successful year, Santander, in partnership with People’s Palace Projects, is once more offering 6 grants for QMUL students to spend a life-changing time in the favelas (shantytowns) of Rio de Janeiro with Grupo Cultural AfroReggae in July 2017 (1st to 9th). This is a unique opportunity to work alongside some of the world’s greatest cultural warriors, as they fight for social transformation through art. In September last year, 6 students from QMUL’s Drama, Geography, and Politics and International Relations Departments had the opportunity to support the AfroReggae team in action in their 4 different headquarters across Rio, in a full week filled with exhilarating experiences. Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing, China


Tuition fees and accommodation: Application Fee: 600 RMB, Tuition Fee: 4,000 RMB. There are 2 fee waivers for this programme. Accommodation is available at an additional cost. Please contact for more information. 
Dates: 3th July – 28th July 2017
Details: Choose from a variety of academic programmes taught in English by international professors. BFSU International Summer Session is an international course programme which features in area studies and related disciplines in humanities and social sciences. Some of the programmes included are politics, international relations and linguistics. Further information is available in the above link. 

Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, China

Tuition fees and accommodation: free with accommodation and meals provided, students will only need to pay for visa, insurance and flights.
Dates: 26th June - 19th August 2017
Details: Together with the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, we will be providing the opportunity for students to take part in a summer camp in Shanghai. The programme provides students with the chance to discover the economy, culture, language and history of China today. The programme runs for 8 weeks, the schedule can be found below.

Sichuan University, Chengdu, China


Tuition fees and accommodation: free with accommodation and meals provided, students will only need to pay for visa and flights.
Dates: 2nd July – 15th July 2017
Details: The two-week University Immersion Programme (UIP) organized by Sichuan University is designed to convene students and faculty from all over the world to give short courses and
lectures to both domestic and international students at both undergraduate and graduate levels. UIP was initiated in 2012 and is now a regular long-term programme. This
programme aims to bring together students worldwide so as to give all participants an opportunity to associate and make friends with each other, and stimulate their global
awareness and inter-cultural communications.

This programme offers the chance to study in a beautiful city and campus, as well as the opportunity to experience parts of China's culture (Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Leshan Giant Buddha, Sichuan Hot Pot). This programme also offers the opportunity for QMUL students to meet and communicate with Chinese students at Sichuan to get an understanding of their way of life.

East China University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai, China


Tuition fees and accommodation: US$1,800 (as a partner student you should receive a discount of US$300), including tuition, accommodation, breakfast and lunch and a Shanghai city tour.
Dates: 17th June – 7th July 2017
Details: Academic programme of study in Chinese Law taught by professors in English Language. Only students studying, or who have studied, Law should apply.

ECUPL Application for Summer School 2017 [DOC 47 KB]

Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, India


Tuition fees and accommodation: USD $1,500 including tuition fees, accommodation, meals, local transportation, and expenses for industry visits and cultural trips.
Dates: July 23rd – August 5th 2017
Details: Vellore Institute of Technology’s Global Engineering and Management Academy is offering students an opportunity to embark on a two week intensive programme combining classroom work with practical experience, visits to historical, and religious, cultural industrial and academic places of significance. VIT has offered a partial grant exclusively to partner institutions such as QMUL, with a 50% discount on the $3,000 fees. This means the whole programme will cost $1,500. The first course is focussed on technology and engineering, while the second deals with the transformation of South Asia from the 20th through to 21st Century and its impending economic and industrial prosperity.
