Mile End Library is the most popular place to study among our students. The library recently underwent a £1.5m refurbishment which included: a new active learning and study centre, a 57-seat training room and a range of additional group study and consultation rooms, a new 35-seat silent PC room, a new 69-seat silent postgraduate taught reading room, increased toilet facilities with a gender neutral, environmentally friendly toilet suite, improved water supply and drainage throughout the building, and more. Interestingly, you told us that the first floor window seats facing the cemetery were a great spot, so why not try to grab a chair there next time you visit?

Whitechapel Library

Based in the Grade II-listed St Augustine with St Philip's Church, Whitechapel Library is the main library for students of the School of Medicine and Dentistry. Its early English style architecture with towering ceilings makes it an inspiring place to study. The stained-glass windows are a favourite among students. It also houses the Royal London Hospital Museum.

The Hive

The Hive is a large space located next to the Students’ Union Hub in the Physics Building at the Mile End campus. There are a number of PCs and a good amount of desk space providing an alternative to the busy Mile End Library during exam season.

Graduate Centre

The new Graduate Centre is an iconic addition to the Mile End campus, but what makes it special are the views from the seventh floor. The postgraduate common room opens out onto a wooden deck terrace area with stunning views of London. It’s the perfect environment for studying alone or working with friends while gazing across the London skyline with an almost 360 degree field of vision.

Canalside

Canalside is a laidback venue for students to study and revise. The brilliant location of the space means that the floor-to-ceiling windows let in the sunlight and create a refreshingly bright and airy space to study. Over the stressful exam period, Canalside is often a valued alternative to Mile End Library or The Hive.

PC labs

There are a number of centrally booked PC labs across our campuses. When these are not in use for teaching, they can be used for open access by students. A timetable of booked teaching is displayed in each room, so you can easily see when you are free to use them. Why not check them out next time you can’t get a PC in any of the other spaces?
