Support for applicants and students

Disability support
Queen Mary offers a wide range of support for students with disabilities. Simon Jarvis (tel: +44 (0)20 7882 2756, email: s.jarvis@qmul.ac.uk) heads the Disability and Dyslexia Service for the College and is the person to contact if you are an applicant with a disability wishing to come to Queen Mary.

Learning support
Paul Jarman (tel: +44 (0)20 7882 2757, email: p.jarman@qmul.ac.uk) is the Learning Development Officer and organises day-to-day learning support for students with disabilities and dyslexia.

The service employs students and non-students as Educational Support Workers to provide different types of support.

Examples of support offered

  • Supporting a wheelchair user on campus or in a laboratory
  • Scanning texts or reading books onto tape for a blind or partially sighted student
  • Taking notes in lectures for a deaf or hearing impaired student
  • Arranging specialist dyslexia tutorial support
