Discover Conservation is an online social enterprise that aims to inspire optimism in conservation and support the next generation of conservation scientists, founded by PhD student James Borrell.

Through its website, Discover Conservation tells stories from scientists and conservationists working in remote and challenging locations around the world, providing a platform for communicating science-based conservation. It also uses this platform to engage potential sponsors to raise money and provide fieldwork bursaries for the next generation of aspiring biologists.

By telling stories directly from the researchers behind science-led conservation, the website aims to engage students who might be interested in going into this field at university, and an interested public with real accounts of what science-led conservation involves and what it can do.

The website features an audience interaction function that allows visitors to pose questions to contributors and find out more about the specific projects and science-led conservation more generally. Giving an opportunity to find out more about the case studies and for those interested in going into this field to find out what it involves.

You can view the website at http://www.discoverconservation.org/

Discover Conservation received small award funding from the Centre for Public Engagement.
