QMUL

Hi there,

I would like to introduce you to a few welcome events taking place in September.
Your Queen Mary Experience
Congratulations on receiving an offer of a place to study at QMUL. My name is Helena and I am the International Student Experience (ISE) Officer at Queen Mary University of London. As a QMUL alumnus I remember how excited I was before enrolling, and how eager I was to start studying and begin my new adventure in London.

My role is to work alongside you, to enrich your experience, and to make sure that you get the most out of this chapter in your academic journey.

Welcome Week 2016
Welcome Week includes a programme of social events which will help you to orientate yourself in London and introduce you to life at QMUL. Please click here to find out more. Some events require you to buy tickets, so a link to the e-shop is included.

We also recommend that you attend the International Welcome Programme which includes informative sessions regarding English language support and working in the UK, among others. You can also find some details regarding the Queen Mary Student Union’s Welcome Fair, which is where you can sign up for any sport or social clubs. The fair will run on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd September on our Mile End Campus.
International Opportunities
The International Student Experience Team work closely with International Students House which is a hub of global activity right in the centre of London. They offer students the opportunity to get involved with a variety of campaigns & social events and also offer students the use of their facilities inclusive of a fitness studio, student restaurant and live music venue.

We also work with an organisation called HOST that offers students the chance to visit with a British family for the weekend, at Christmas or even just explore a different part of the UK with them on a day trip. For 2016 we are delighted to announce that applications for the HOST scheme will be free for a limited time so ensure that you get your applications in early.

For further pre-arrival advice and information we have a specific module on QMPlus which you can access and view now:

Airport pick up service
We will provide a free coach service for new students arriving at Heathrow Airport on 17th and 18th September 2016.

Coaches will depart from Heathrow Terminal 3 approximately every two hours (more frequently when busy) and will drop students off at our Mile End Campus.

I wish you all every success during your time at QMUL and look forward to meeting you all!

Yours sincerely,

Helena Collins
