Why talk to employers?

Talking to employers can give you real insight into what is being looked for in new recruits. Plus, the pressure is off as you're not actively applying for a job. Even so, there is a chance that this kind of networking could stand you in good stead. Many employers make a note of promising students and may keep an eye out for your name if you do make an application.

What kinds of employers come to Queen Mary?

Some big names you may have heard of, as well as others that may be new to you. Over the last year employers on campus have included: IBM, BBC, Barclays Corporate, Marie Curie, European Commission, BAA, PricewaterhouseCoopers, National Archives, Shell, M&G Investments, Jaguar Land Rover, Detica, Citi, Freshfields and Reed Smith.

How do I find an industrial placement?

If you are doing a degree with a 'year in industry' component (for example the BSc Business Computing with Industrial Experience), then our industrial placement officers can help you find a placement to complement your studies and give you that all important work experience.
