Trauma system in the pipeline in Abu Dhabi

A committee has been formed in Abu Dhabi to develop an integrated trauma system that would help reduce the number of deaths from physical injuries. Representatives of hospitals, health authorities, the emergency services and UAE University are proposing two to three trauma centres be built in the centre of the emirate, with a further unit in each region. Professor Brohi told the Abu Dhabi Medical Congress that an organised trauma system will result in a three times higher survival rate, commenting: “Trauma is responsible for 18 per cent of all deaths in the UAE."
