Tower Hamlets’ bid for city status

A photograph of the Queens’ Building has been submitted as part of Tower Hamlets bid for city status. One location in the UK will be awarded city status in spring 2012 as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The photo was submitted to illustrate Queen Mary’s “world class training and education to local people and overseas students alike”. Famous alumni such as authors JG Ballard and Sarah Waters and the scientist Lord Winston are also named. More information on the Tower Hamlets bid for city status can be found here.
