A campaign has been launched by the MS Society to highlight the benefit vitamin D has for sufferers of multiple sclerosis (MS). Researchers found that the disease was more prevalent further from the equator, particularly in Scotland, and now they are linking this to the exposure to the vitamin D created through sunshine. Professor Giovannoni said: “The incidence of the disease has been increasing over the past few decades, particularly in women. It’s no coincidence that this has happened at the same time women have begun to avoid the sun and that sunblock has been put in make-up products.”
