Scientists at Queen Mary have identified important differences between skull and limb bones, which could lead to better treatment and a possible cure for osteoporosis. Researchers have studied the two parts of the skeleton in detail and discovered they are very different genetically. Lead author Dr Simon Rawlinson said: “This research is exciting because it tells us why our skulls remain so tough as we age compared to the bones in our arms and legs. Now we understand this phenomenon better, we also understand osteoporosis better.”
