The remains of Joseph Merrick – aka the elephant man – will be brought to life in a Discovery Channel documentary to be shown on Wednesday, 23rd March at 9pm.
The programme makers worked closely with staff at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, where Merrick’s remains are held, using new scanning techniques to study the skeleton and understand his medical condition.
The documentary will give viewers an insight into how Merrick would have lived, spoken and moved around, despite his disabilities. It will also shed new light on how he died.
