Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Where is Queen Mary University?

Queen Mary is the only campus-based University situated in London. It is located in the East End, and is only a 15 minute tube ride from the centre of the city. The closest underground station is Mile End, which is a 5 minute walk from the campus.

What is the area like?

The East End is one of the most vibrant, exciting and culturally diverse areas of London. There is something for everyone: street markets, parks, cafes, restaurants, pubs, museums and galleries. Brick Lane, which is in walking distance from the campus, is famous for its eclectic market, Indian restaurants, 24 hour bagel shops and is also now home to a growing number of artists and designers. It may not be the most famous area of the city, but it is certainly worth getting to know.

Queen Mary is also very close to the site of the 2012 Olympic Games with the main stadium being less than 1 mile from campus. The 2012 Olympics will take place in a host of new venues in the local area and the area is being transformed in preparation. Many of the new facilities will be reused and the plans are part of the regeneration of the east end of London. 2012 will certainly be an exciting time for students and staff at Queen Mary!
