Campus life in the heart of the city
At Queen Mary, we know how important it is for you to feel at home and to make the most of your student experience. Our Mile End campus is the largest self-contained student campus in London and one of the very few city-based campus universities in the UK. So our students have the best of both worlds – on the one hand, experiencing life in one of the world’s most exciting cities and on the other, benefiting from the lively community feel of campus life.
Living on campus has lots of advantages – students are only five minutes from their bed to their first lecture of the day. We have a host of facilities on one site: cafes, bars, restaurants, library, the Students’ Union, sports facilities, a bank and a bookshop, so it won’t take you long to feel at home and find your way around.
Overlooking the Regent’s Canal, our award winning Westfield Student Village has lots to offer students including the Global Village café-bar, The Curve restaurant, a launderette and the Village Shop as well as plenty of outdoor spaces to relax and unwind after a hard day of study. We take the safety of our students very seriously and we have manned 24 hour security on campus; all flats have entryphones.
Finding the right place to live is very important and at Queen Mary we have a range of accommodation options to suit all budgets and tastes. As well as having over 2,000 study bedrooms at Mile End, we also offer some accommodation at both our Whitechapel and Charterhouse Square sites (School of Medicine and Dentistry).
The health and welfare of our students is extremely important to us, so you will never feel like an anonymous face in the crowd. The College’s Advice and Counselling Service is available to help with general advice on a range of issues and to provide support with personal problems.
Our Students’ Union is one of the most active in London and has something to offer everyone. It has recently benefited from a multimillion pound refurbishment, making it one of the liveliest student venues in the country. The Union also boasts a brand new state of the art Health and Fitness Centre complete with fully-trained gym instructors to help you get into shape.
