What happens next?

If you require Tier 4 Immigration permission, in order to be able to study in the UK, you will need a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). This is a unique number which will enable UKBA officers to access information which we have provided about your course. If you are not sure whether you require immigration permission to be able to study in the UK, please refer to our website: http://www.welfare.qmul.ac.uk/international/immigration/index.html

Under the Tier 4 Points Based Immigration System, a student's immigration permission is only valid for study at the sponsoring institution that issued them with the CAS used for their immigration application. You may hold multiple CAS’s from several institutions but if you wish to come to Queen Mary, University of London you must decline all other CAS’s that you hold when you make your immigration application.

Once we have received confirmation that your deposit has been paid, you will be asked to verify that your personal & course details are correct via your web portal before we request a CAS from the UKBA.  After you have verified this information, you will receive an email to notify you that your CAS statement is now visible in your web portal.  You should receive this within 48 hours (Monday to Friday) of you verifying your CAS statement If your course is starting in September 2012, we will not be issuing the CAS until the end of April 2012.

Fees paid and the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)

Please note that after payment of your deposit, any subsequent payments of tuition fees will not be automatically reflected in the CAS. Further advance payments have to be manually updated on the CAS and as such you should allow up to ten days for this to happen. Please factor this in when applying for a visa appointment in your home country. If you are concerned that your CAS has not been updated with an advance payment made by either you or your financial sponsor, please email CAS-Admissions@qmul.ac.uk  clearly stating your full name, applicant ID, programme you have applied for, amount paid and the date of payment.  If you do wish to make an advance tuition fee payment we recommend you do this after you have secured your visa.
