Queen Mary has a long history of welcoming students from around the world. Over the years, many thousands of international students have graduated from the college and gone on to pursue successful careers. Today, we are home to students from more than 100 different countries. This diversity contributes to a lively and welcoming community which should make you feel comfortable and at home.
One of the largest colleges of the University of London and one of the few with fully integrated teaching, research and residential facilities, our setting gives you the benefits both of a large campus environment and of the countless academic and social opportunities of London.
Swiss students who qualify for Home Fees may be eligible for a loan to cover their tuition fees at Queen Mary, please see the see the Undergraduate Fees and Finance page for more details. Erasmus and Study Abroad Programmes
Students interested in attending Queen Mary through the Erasmus programme, please visit the Erasmus website.
If your university does not have an Erasmus exchange programme with Queen Mary, you can apply directly to our Study Abroad programme. This is for overseas students who would like to study with us for one or two semesters, with credit transferring to your home university. Please note that it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that their home institution will accept credits earned.

Recognition of Swiss qualifications for Undergraduate Entry
Academic:
The following Swiss qualifications will be considered for entry onto a Queen Mary Bachelor’s degree:
- Federal Maturity Examination or Maturitatszeugnis/ Certificat de Maturite/ Attestato di Maturita
- Exact requirements will depend on the course you are applying for but students usually need to obtain an overall average grade of 5/6 or gut/bien/bene. You may also be required to have studied specific subjects relevant to the degree course.
Also acceptable are:
- 3 A levels (grades A-C)
- International Baccalaureate (IB)

English:
- Please refer to English language and foundation courses for different course requirements.
- Students with A’ levels or IB will not require IELTS or TOEFL
- Students who achieve slightly below these requirements may be admitted onto a presessional English course at Queen Mary. Please see the Entry Level Guidelines for English Language for full details.

Recognition of Swiss qualifications for Graduate Entry
Master's degrees (all one year)
Academic:
The following qualifications will be considered for entry onto a Queen Mary Master’s degree:
- Bachelor’s degree (since 2001)
- Diplom/Diplôme /Lizentiat/Licence/ Staatsdiplom/Diplôme d'Etat
- Exact grade requirements will depend on the level you have studied at and the course you are applying for, but you will usually need to achieve an average grade of at least 5 (1-6 grading scheme), 8 (1-10 grading scheme), 2 (5-1 grading scheme) or gut/bien/bene
Please note that all applications are considered on an individual basis and students may be admitted to Master's programmes with a lower level degree if they have work experience relevant to the degree applied for.

Research degree (MPhil/PhD: 3 years)
Academic:
- The usual entrance requirement for a research degree is a Master’s degree (since 2001)
- However many departments also accept student with high grades in the Bachelor's degree (since 2001) or Diplom/Diplôme /Lizentiat/Licence/ Staatsdiplom/Diplôme d'Etat
