Queen Mary has a long history of welcoming students from around the World. Over the years, many thousands of international students have graduated from the college and gone on to pursue successful careers. Today, we are home to students from more than 100 different countries. This diversity contributes to a lively and welcoming community which should make you feel comfortable and at home.

One of the largest colleges of the University of London and one of the few with fully integrated teaching, research and residential facilities, our setting gives you the benefits both of a large campus environment and of the countless academic and social opportunities of London.

 

Financing your studies

EU students applying to study at undergraduate level may be eligible for a loan to cover their tuition fees at Queen Mary, please see the Undergraduate Fees and Finance page for more details.

Erasmus/Study Abroad Programme

Students interested in attending Queen Mary through the Erasmus programme, please visit the Erasmus website.

If your university does not have an Erasmus exchange programme with Queen Mary, you can apply directly to our Study Abroad programme. This is for overseas students who would like to study with us for one or two semesters, with credit transferring to your home university. Please note that it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that their home institution will accept credits earned.

Entry requirements

 

Recognition of Swedish Qualifications for Undergraduate Entry

Academic:

QM accepts Swedish students holding a good Fullstandigt Slutbetyg fran Gymnasieskolan or Avgangsbetyg for a Bachelor’s Programme.

Please refer to the prospectus and department web sites for individual subject A-level and IB requirements.

 

English:

Students with A-levels or IB will not require IELTS or TOEFL

Recognition of Swedish Qualifications for Graduate Entry

 

Master's degrees (all one year)

Academic:

QM accepts students holding a Swedish Bachelor’s degree or the Kandidatexamen as well as the Jrkesexamen for a Master’s entry.

The exact requirements will depend on the programme you are applying for but QM generally considers applicants with a combination of G (Godkänd) grades and VG (Väl godkänd) grades from a recognised university. Case specific decisions are made for students holding other post-school qualifications.

Please note that all applications are considered on an individual basis and students may be admitted to Master's programmes with a lower level degree if they have work experience relevant to the degree applied for.

Research degree (MPhil/PhD: 3 years)

Academic:

QM accepts Swedish students holding a Master’s degree/Professional Master’s, a Magisterexamen or a Licentiatexamen for a research degree

Some departments also accept student with a First or Upper Second Class Bachelor’s degree.
