Welcome
Queen Mary has a long history of welcoming students from around the world. Over the years, many thousands of international students have graduated from the college and gone on to pursue successful careers. Today, we are home to students from more than 100 different countries. This diversity contributes to a lively and welcoming community which should make you feel comfortable and at home.
One of the largest colleges of the University of London and one of the few with fully integrated teaching, research and residential facilities, our setting gives you the benefits both of a large campus environment and of the countless academic and social opportunities of London.
There are currently 16 Norwegian students at Queen Mary studying a variety of courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels including: Business, International Management, Law, Politics, and Economics.
Entry requirements
Recognition of Norwegian qualifications for Undergraduate Entry
An increasing number of Norwegian students are choosing Queen Mary for their first degree because of the opportunity to gain an international perspective and earn a world class qualification and at a competitive price.
Applications for undergraduate degrees in the UK are made through the UCAS system, information on the procedure can be found in Undergraduate Study .
International Baccalaureate Diploma
Holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma typically with a minimum of 30 points and marks of at least 4 or above in three higher level subjects will be considered for admission to first degree programmes. Please note; entry varies between programmes, please consult individual course requirements for more details.
Upper Secondary Qualification (Vitnemal fra dan Videreganende Skole)
We welcome students who have completed or are completing their upper Secondary Qualification with an average grade of 4 and achieving a grade 5 in at least one related subject.
Undergraduate Law (LLB)
Students wishing to undertake an LLB programme at Queen Mary will need to achieve an average grade of 5 or higher.
Business Management
Students wishing to pursue Business Management at Queen Mary will need to achieve an average grade of 5 or higher

English Language Requirements
English Language Requirements
For undergraduate programmes you will need to have a grade of 4 or higher in English for entry (except Law, business management, arts and politics programmes which require 5 or higher). Or alternatively you will need to take an internationally validated test such as IELTS or TOEFL. As a guide we require:
For most postgraduate programmes a grade of 5 or higher in English is required. Or alternatively you will need to take an internationally validated test such as IELTS or TOEFL. As a guide we require:
- Please refer to English language and foundation courses for different course requirements.
- Students with A’ levels or IB will not require IELTS or TOEFL
- Students who achieve slightly below these requirements may be admitted onto a presessional English course at Queen Mary. Please see the Entry Level Guidelines for English Language for full details.
University transfer students
We would consider students that have completed one year at a recognised university with an average grade of B or higher for second year entry to our undergraduate programmes. No students are permitted entry in the final year (3) of our undergraduate degrees.
Applications for Medicine and Dentistry
Applicants must have taken either A levels or the International Baccalaureate Program. Places available to international students are extremely limited - we are currently only permitted to accept 4 students for dentistry and 20 for medicine. Transfer students are not accepted.
Entry requirements for Postgraduate courses
Norwegian Bachelor's Degrees
Holders of a Norwegian Bachelor's degree at a recognized/accredited Norwegian institution, with a minimum grade B (2.5 or below in the old grading system) in an appropriate Major(s) will be considered for entry onto Queen Mary's taught Master's programmes.
Research programmes
Holders of a Norwegian Master's degree in an appropriate subject from a recognised institution with a grade B or above will be considered for entry to Queen Mary research programmes.

Educational Representatives in our regional office in Norway provides support to the ever increasing number of applicants from to Queen Mary, University of London. The regional office in Norway has been very active in guiding and advising applicants in various capacities as well as maintaining the high standard of the entry requirements.
