Welcome

Queen Mary has a long history of welcoming students from around the world. Over the years, many thousands of international students have graduated from the college and gone on to pursue successful careers. Financing your studies

EU students applying to study at undergraduate level may be eligible for a loan to cover their tuition fees at Queen Mary, please see the Undergraduate Fees and Finance page for more details.

Erasmus and Study Abroad Programmes

Students interested in attending Queen Mary through the Erasmus programme, please visit the Erasmus website.

If your university does not have an Erasmus exchange programme with Queen Mary, you can apply directly to our Study Abroad programme. This is for overseas students who would like to study with us for one or two semesters, with credit transferring to your home university. Please note that it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that their home institution will accept credits earned.

Entry requirements

Recognition of Maltese qualifications for Undergraduate Entry

Academic:

The following Maltese qualifications will be considered for entry onto a Queen Mary Bachelor’s degree:

  • 3 GCE A’ levels (grades A-C)*
  • The Matriculation Certificate Examination (MATSEC) with 2 subjects at Advanced Level and 3 subjects at Intermediate Level. Exact requirements will depend on the course you are applying for but students usually need to obtain an overall grade of at least B. You may also be required to have grades of A-C at Advanced Level for subjects relevant to the degree programme.

Also acceptable is:

  • International Baccalaureate (IB)*

English:

Please refer to English language and foundation courses for different course requirements.

  • Students with A’ levels or IB will not require IELTS or TOEFL
  • Students who achieve slightly below these requirements may be admitted onto a presessional English course at Queen Mary. Please see the Entry Level Guidelines for English Language for full details.

Recognition of Maltese qualifications for Graduate Entry

Master's degrees (all one year)

The following Lebanese qualifications will be considered for entry onto a Queen Mary Master’s degree:

  • Bachelor’s (Honours) degree with a final classification of Upper Second Class (2:1)
  • Some departments may also consider students with very high grades in a Bachelor’s (Ordinary) degree

Please note that all applications are considered on an individual basis and students may be admitted to Master's programmes with a lower level degree if they have work experience relevant to the degree applied for.

English:

 

Research degree (MPhil/PhD: 3 years)

Academic:

  • The usual entrance requirement for a research degree is a Master’s degree
  • However many departments also accept student with a final classification of Upper Second Class (2:1) in a Bachelor's (Honours) degree.
