Welcome
Queen Mary has a long history of welcoming students from around the world. Over the years, many thousands of international students have graduated from the college and gone on to pursue successful careers. Today, we are home to students from more than 100 different countries. This diversity contributes to a lively and welcoming community which should make you feel comfortable and at home.

There are currently 40students from Hong Kong (SAR) at Queen Mary studying a variety of courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels including: Business Management, Economics, Computer Science, Law, Mathematics, Engineering & Materials Science, Biological & Chemical Sciences, Medicine, and Dentistry.

Entry requirements
Recognition of Hong Kong qualifications for undergraduate entry
Undergraduate year 1 entry:
- 3 A levels. Please see course A-Z for individual subject A level requirements.
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with a minimum of 28 points and marks of at least 4 or above in three Higher Level subjects. Please see course A-Z for individual subject IB requirements.
- Higher Certificate with an average of 60% or above in a related subject with one year of work experience relevant to the course applied for will be considered for year 1 entry.
- English: If you have English with grade C or above in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education (Syllabus B only) and/or grade C or above in HK AS Level Use of English you do not need to pass IELTS or TOEFL. If you do not have this you will need to pass the standard English level.
Undergraduate year 2 entry:
Applications to undergraduate year 2 entry at Queen Mary will be assessed and considered on individual basis. Please apply to Queen Mary via UCAS

Recognition of Hong Kong qualifications for postgraduate entry
Master's degrees (all one year):
Academic: 3-year undergraduate bachelor degree with upper second class Honours
The usual entrance requirement to a taught Master's degree is an upper class second undergraduate Bachelor's degree. However, all applications are considered on an individual basis and students may be admitted to Master's programmes with a lower level degree if they have work experience relevant to the degree applied for.
Students who have completed an undergraduate degree with English as the language of instruction in Hong Kong do not need to take an IELTS or TOEFL test . Otherwise, you will need to satisfy the standard English requirement.
Research degree (Mphil/PhD: 3 years):
The usual entrance requirement for a research degree is a Master's degree with upper class second honours from a UK or Hong Kong university. However, applications are considered individually, and some students with relevant work experience may gain entry with a lower level degree.
Students who have completed an undergraduate or Master's degree with English as the language of instruction in Hong Kong do not need to take an IELTS or TOEFL test. Otherwise, you will need to satisfy the standard English requirement.
