Queen Mary has a long history of welcoming students from around the world. Over the years, many thousands of international students have graduated from the college and gone on to pursue successful careers. Today, we are home to students from more than 100 different countries. This diversity contributes to a lively and welcoming community which should make you feel comfortable and at home.

One of the largest colleges of the University of London and one of the few with fully integrated teaching, research and residential facilities, our setting gives you the benefits both of a large campus environment and of the countless academic and social opportunities of London.

There are currently 22 students from Egypt at Queen Mary studying a range of courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels including: Law, Medicine, Engineering, Dentistry, and Economics.

Entry requirements

Recognition of Egyptian qualifications for Undergraduate Foundation Courses (1 year)

The following Egyptian qualifications will be considered for entry onto a Queen Mary Foundation course:

Academic:

  • Thanaweya A'ama/General Secondary School Certificate Examination or Al-Azhar General Secondary School Certificate with an overall average grade of at least 80%. For some undergraduate programmes you may be expected to have studied specific subjects.

Recognition of Egyptian qualifications for Undergraduate Entry

Academic:

  • Queen Mary or other UK Foundation course (grade B)
  • 3 A levels (grades A-C)
  • International Baccalaureate (IB)

Recognition of Egyptian qualifications for Graduate Entry

Master's degrees (all one year)

The following Egyptian qualifications will be considered for entry onto a Queen Mary Master’s degree:

Academic:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university in Egypt. Exact requirements will depend on the course you are applying for and the course/institution that you have previously studied at but you will usually be expected to have a final grade of at least 75%/3.0/Very Good.

 Please note that all applications are considered on an individual basis and students may be admitted to Master's programmes with a lower level degree if they have work experience relevant to the degree applied for.

 Research degree (MPhil/PhD: 3 years)

Academic:

  • The usual entrance requirement for a research degree is a Master's degree from a UK university or recognised university in Egypt.
