Welcome
Queen Mary has a long history of welcoming students from around the world. Over the years, many thousands of international students have graduated from the college and gone on to pursue successful careers. Today, we are home to students from more than 100 different countries. This diversity contributes to a lively and welcoming community which should make you feel comfortable and at home.
One of the largest colleges of the University of London and one of the few with fully integrated teaching, research and residential facilities, our setting gives you the benefits both of a large campus environment and of the countless academic and social opportunities of London.
There are currently 23 students from Denmark at Queen Mary studying a range of courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels including: Biological & Chemical Sciences, Dentistry, Medicine, Law, and History.
Financing your studies
EU students applying to study at undergraduate level may be eligible for a loan to cover their tuition fees at Queen Mary, please see the Undergraduate Fees and Finance page for more details.
EU students can also apply for various studentships and bursaries for postgraduate study, please go to Postgraduate Studentships for more information.
Erasmus and Study Abroad Programmes
Students interested in attending Queen Mary through the Erasmus programme, please visit the Erasmus website
If your university does not have an Erasmus exchange programme with Queen Mary, you can apply directly to our Study Abroad programme. This is for overseas students who would like to study with us for one or two semesters, with credit transferring to your home university. Please note that it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that their home institution will accept credits earned.
Entry requirements
Recognition of Danish qualifications for Undergraduate Entry
Academic:
The following Danish qualifications will be considered for entry onto a Queen Mary Bachelor’s degree:
- Studentereksamen (Upper Secondary School Leaving Examination) or Højere Forberedelseseksamen/HF (Higher Preparatory Examination)
- Exact requirements will depend on the course you are applying for but students usually need to obtain a minimum overall mark of between 4/12 and 10/12 (or between 7/13 and 10/13 in the old grading system). You may also be required to have achieved certain grades in subjects relevant to the degree course.
- The HøjereHandelseksamen- HHX (Higher commercial examination) and the HøjereTekniskEksamen- HTX (Higher technical examination) may sometimes also be considered for entry but this will depend on the course you are applying for.
Also acceptable are:
- 3 A levels (grades A-C)
- International Baccalaureate (IB)

English Language Requirements
- Please refer to English language and foundation courses for different course requirements.
- Students with A’ levels or IB will not require IELTS or TOEFL
- Students who achieve slightly below these requirements may be admitted onto a presessional English course at Queen Mary. Please see the Entry Level Guidelines for English Language for full details.

Recognition of Danish qualifications for Graduate Entry
Master's degrees (all one year)
Academic:
The following qualifications will be considered for entry onto a Queen Mary Master’s degree:
- Bachelor’s degree, Candidatus Philosophiae (before 1995)or Professionsbachelor (since 2000)
- Exact grade requirements will depend on the course you are applying for, but you will usually need to achieve at least 7/12 or 9/13 (old grading system) to be considered.
Please note that all applications are considered on an individual basis and students may be admitted to Master's programmes with a lower level degree if they have work experience relevant to the degree applied for.
English:

Research degree (MPhil/PhD: 3 years)
Academic:
- The usual entrance requirement for a research degree is a Candidatus (second-level degree)or Magister atrium.
- However many departments also accept student with high grades in either a Bachelor’s degree or a Candidatus Philosophiae (before 1995)
