Welcome

Queen Mary has a long history of welcoming students from around the world. Over the years, many thousands of international students have graduated from the college and gone on to pursue successful careers. Today, we are home to students from more than 100 different countries. This diversity contributes to a lively and welcoming community which should make you feel comfortable and at home.

One of the largest colleges of the University of London and one of the few with fully integrated teaching, research and residential facilities, our setting gives you the benefits both of a large campus environment and of the countless academic and social opportunities of London.

There are currently 15 students from Colombia at Queen Mary studying a range of courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels including: Business & Management, Law, Computer Science, Economics & Finance, Electronic Engineering, Engineering, Physics, and Politics.

Entry requirements

Recognition of Colombian qualifications for Undergraduate Foundation Courses (1 year)

The following Colombian qualifications will be considered for entry onto a Queen Mary Foundation Course:

Academic:

  • Bachillerato/Diploma de Bachillér taken in the academic stream with an overall average grade of at least 70% or 7/10. For some undergraduate programmes you may be expected to have studied specific subjects.

Recognition of Colombian qualifications for Undergraduate Entry

Academic:

  • Queen Mary or other UK Foundation course (grade B)
  • 3 A levels (grades A-C)
  • International Baccalaureate (IB)

Recognition of Colombian qualifications for Graduate Entry

Master's degrees (all one year)

The following Colombian qualifications will be considered for entry onto a Queen Mary Master’s degree:

Academic:

  • Licenciatura or Título Profesional from a recognised university.
  • Exact requirements will depend on the course you are applying for but you will be expected to have a final grade of at least 4.0/5.0

Please note that all applications are considered on an individual basis and students may be admitted to Master's programmes with a lower level degree if they have work experience relevant to the degree applied for.

Research degree (MPhil/PhD: 3 years)

Academic:

  • The usual entrance requirement for a research degree is a Master's degree from a UK university or a Maestría or Magister from a recognised university in Colombia.
