The project will focus on three key activities:
Collaborative Research Ventures: structured industry/university partnerships focused on an early career researcher, who will have the opportunity of being embedded both in a world-class Queen Mary research environment and in an industry setting. Mentoring and supervision will be given to the researcher and the outputs from the project will exemplify sustainable impact of research.
Career Development: young researchers will benefit from scholarships that will fund a carefully targeted and personalised programme of training and development activities to enhance their capacity to bridge the industry-academia divide and to be able to drive innovation in a complex industrial sector. Outcomes will be closely linked to the needs of particular Collaborative Research Ventures.
Stakeholder Network: the project will develop a network of senior stakeholders from the worlds of industry, public policy, funding bodies in the UK and internationally. The network will provide a framework for future development of impact of research and also for the careers of the young researchers.
