ImpactQM Summer Party and Panel Discussion

Date: 18 August 2009

Time: 4pm onwards

Venue: Senior Common Room, Queens' Building, Mile End Campus

ImpactQM is Queen Mary's EPSRC-funded Knowledge Transfer Account (KTA) project. You are invited to come and hear a panel of three leading science and engineering researchers talking briefing about what research impact means for them, and enjoy wine, beer and snacks.

The speakers are:

  • Professor John Stark, School of Engineering and Materials Science
  • Professor John Allen, School of Biological and Chemical Sciencs
  • Professor Byron Cook, School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science

The Party starts at 4pm, in the Senior Common Room, Queens' Building. Speakers take the floor from 4.30pm to 5.15pm, and the Party will continue afterwards.

All are welcome, including academic and support staff, PhD students, and postdocs. Please register with events@qmul.ac.uk if you would like to attend.

We are firming up our ideas on the KTA with scholarships, work placements, and other activities for PhD students, postdocs and early career researchers. Full details and a call for applications will be released in September.

The official launch of ImpactQM will be on 16 November 2009, in the Octagon, Mile End Campus. The speakers include:

  • Professor Adrian Smith, Director General Science and Research, Department for Business Innovation and Skills
  • Professor David Delpy, Chief Executive, EPSRC
  • Professor Lincoln Wallen, Head of Research and Development, Dreamworks Animation.
