The course is split into two parts and attendees can opt to attend the introductory or advanced course or both. The introductory course covers ethics, recruitment, piloting, design, reporting, principles of health economics, monitoring and process evaluations with introductions to analysis and sample size calculations. The advanced course covers systematic reviews, health economic analysis and statistical aspects in more detail including, for example, a session on stepped wedge designs.


This course is based on the book 'A Practical Guide to Cluster Randomised Trials in Health Services Research' by Sandra Eldridge and Sally Kerry but incorporates developments in methodology since the book was written.
