Helping you to develop your future career
QMUL aims to produce the pioneers and influencers of the future. Whether you are studying drama, dentistry or engineering, we can help you get hands-on experience, develop transferable skills and increase your knowledge of your chosen field before you even graduate.
Our award-winning Careers and Enterprise team runs a variety of programmes to help students develop invaluable skills and gain insight into their chosen field before they even graduate. These include:
Winner of the Guardian Employability Award 2014, our scheme places QMUL students with local charities to help with activities like building a website, planning an event or applying for funding.
A dedicated service helping students and recent graduates find paid short-term and part-time work on campus and in the local area. Students can browse vacancies on the Queen Mary University of London JobOnline site.
This scheme sources paid internship opportunities for QMUL students and recent graduates with companies like Pfizer, the Wolfson Institute for Cancer Prevention, Morgan Stanley and the Ragged Museum. QInterns has placed over 311 students across QMUL since 2013.
Second year Theoretical Physics student Sabrina Alam joined Queen Mary through Clearing and has already managed to secure a job for when she graduates.
"I found out about the internship at Avention after reading one of the newsletters sent by the Careers and Enterprise team. The internship was targeted at second and third year students. However, I received a lot of support from my departmental careers officer which definitely helped with the challenging three-stage interview process. My internship allowed me to get practical experience in the corporate world of the City and gave me the opportunity to develop invaluable business contacts. It was hard work but it helped me to challenge myself. I was then offered a permanent position at the company for when I graduate by the Senior VP himself."
Sabrina Alam, Theoretical Physics MSci, 2018
