Summary

Javier Zamora gained a BSc degree in Biology from University Complutense of Madrid in 1991.  He has a PhD degree in Biomathematics (1997) from the same University. After a postdoctoral stage at the Mario Negri Institute in Bergamo (Italy) he focused into Statistics and Epidemiology. He gained a MSc degree in Public Health and Epidemiology from Rey Juan Carlos University (Madrid) and recently got a MSc degree in Research & Development Management from the National School of Health and Alcala University (Madrid).

His has developed an academic carrier at University of Madrid in the Biomathematics department as an Associate Professor with teaching responsibilities in Statistics and Experimental design.

He is the Head of the Clinical Biostatistics Unit at Ramon y Cajal University Hospital (Madrid) and the Director of the Clinical Epidemiology Research Area of the Ramon y Cajal Biomedical Research Institute (IRYCIS). His group hosts the Madrid Cochrane Collaborating Centre.

He was member of the staff of Assessors of the National Evaluation and Foresight Agency (ANEP) at the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology. He is part of the panel of experts of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the Spanish Medicine Agency (AGEMED). 

Research

Research Interests:

His current research interests relates to methodology for Clinical Epidemiology and research synthesis principally regarding Diagnostic Test Accuracy reviews.

He authored Meta-Disc software (2004) which was unique in its kind to perform meta-analysis of diagnostic tests accuracy studies.
