Summary

Paul gained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the Utrecht University (The Netherlands) in 2012, and his Master's degree in Medicine at the VU University of Amsterdam in July 2016. During the last 6 months of his medical degree, he performed a research internship at the Department of Colorectal Surgery at the Royal London Hospital under supervision of Professor Knowles and Dr Scott, on the investigation of patients with faecal incontinence with the use of high-resolution anorectal manometry. Since October 2016, he started a combined PhD between the VU University of Amsterdam and the Queen Mary University of London, with a main focus on anorectal investigations and advanced treatment of patients with faecal incontinence. As a Research Fellow, he is involved in the NIHR SUBSoNIC trial and he is currently the Clinical Network Manager of the NIHR funded Enteric HTC.
