Contribution of Universities to the Arts Sector

This invite-only events draws individuals from the arts world and from universities to discuss how the two sectors can interact in the future. 

It is a unique opportunity to discuss in an informal meeting over lunch the long term goals of each sector, and how the two can work together to achieve mutually beneficial results, and cement a long lasting synergistic relationship.

Bridgeman Versus Corel: Copyrighted Creativity or Commerce?

A re-enactment of the 1999 legal challenge brought by The Bridgeman Art Library against Corel Corporation, this conference gathers together professionals and experts on IP and copyright to reassess the verdict and place the decision within a European legal framework, to judge whether the same decision would have been reached outside the USA.

Local to Global Seminar

This event is one in a series of LCACE supported events, produced by Mustafa Ozbilgin of QM and Fiona Kerrigan of KCL.

The series showcases the works of artists who have managed to bring their local art to international audiences. This series is based on Ozbilgin and Kerrigan’s research into artists’ careers in their pursuit of bringing arts from local to global audiences.

Appearing at this event is Isolyn Nahvumah Tyndale, a singer songwriter, dramatist/storyteller, cultural teacher who has performed on radio a number of times.  She is currently conducting a vocal training workshop in a secondary school. For the Local to Global seminar she will sing and speak about her life and work.

Mile End Group Lecture: The New Protective State: Government, Intelligence and Terrorism - Peter Hennessy

Venue : Skeel Lecture Theatre [ map ]
Time : 6.30-8.30pm

An examination, to coincide with the first publication of the Mile End Group, edited by Peter Hennessy, on the way the British Intelligence and the UK state generally have remade themselves since 9/11 and the degree to which the Cold War 'Secret State' provided lessons for the long-term threats the country now faces.

The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception.

Bobby Baker Event

Venue : Queens Building [ map ]
Time : 6.30-8.30pm

Bobby Baker is an artist who has produced an extensive repetoire of work principally concerned with an exploration of aspects of daily life and human behaviour. Bobby currently holds an AHRC Creative Fellowship in the English and Drama Department at Queen Mary University of London. As part of her Fellowship, Bobby is working on a major new project entitled A Model Family based on mental health issues within the family.

This presentation/performance will be the first pilot 'episode' of the show.
