Impact of degree on career choice and current opportunities
Living in London as a student taught me to be pragmatic and street-wise and made it easier for me to adjust to living in other global cities. My course in history was not only interesting but trained me to be objective and apply logical thinking.
Since graduation, I have changed my career once. My first job was with M&S as a management trainee. This was a fantastic experience into consumer business and people dynamics. It inspired me to enter the people business of executive search and I have been doing this ever since. I head hunt for multinational organisations expanding into China.
Advice to current students
Be honest about your own weaknesses and be realistic with your ambitions. Forge a career that turns you into what you like to become not the other way round.
