Marketing Strategy Manager
Ford Motor Company, USA
Impact of degree on career choice and current opportunities
As a Global Product Marketing Strategy Manager for Ford of Europe, I get involved with advanced product decisions. Most Ford Motor global products are based on the current European platforms. Our function therefore ensures that those platforms and products can meet and exceed global customer needs, wants and trends.
Studying history taught me to manage huge amounts of information and the ability to distil it down to support my conclusions. It also taught me the importance of, ‘cause and effect’, and that often we don't learn from past mistakes - both our own and others. In addition, it developed my interest in other cultures and ways of life - two things which I am able to explore more living in the States.
Advice to current students
Find a job that you enjoy and go for it. But be prepared for the setbacks as they will come - learn from them and become a stronger person.
