What they say about us
"We would like to congratulate Queen Mary, University of London for its performance in this year's rigorous rankings. Being ranked 120 in the world top 200 is an impressive achievement. The top 200 universities in the world represent only a tiny fraction of world higher education and any institution that makes it into this table is truly world class."
Ann Mroz, Times Higher Education editor, September 2010
"Queen Mary is one of the UK's top universities, ranked 11th nationally out of 132 universities in the latest research assessment exercise."
The Guardian University Guide 2012
Our students’ employability…
"[Queen Mary’s] reputation for academic excellence translates into good career prospects for graduates who boast some of the highest starting salaries among their peers."
The Sunday Times University League Table 2011
"Besides good teaching and research, [Queen Mary] is one of the best universities for student employability and graduate starting salaries."
The Guardian University Guide 2012
Our research…
"The biggest star among the research-intensive institutions was Queen Mary, University of London"
Times Higher Education on our results in the RAE 2008
"The college delivers contract and collaborative research services worth approximately £14m a year and has its own BioEnterprise Innovation Centre to create spin-out companies. One of its greatest successes has been with ApaTech, established in 2001 to manufacture and market synthetic bone substitutes, which was acquired by global healthcare company Baxter International for $330m (£210m) earlier this year."
The Sunday Times, September 2010
"In English language and literature, Queen Mary, University of London (rated second for the subject in the RAE 2008) also performed strongly in the impact pilot, with 40 per cent of its submission rated 4* and 60 per cent 3*, defined as “excellent”."
Paul Jump, Times Higher Education, on Queen Mary’s performance in the first official attempt to measure the impact of academics' research, January 2011
Our academics…
"Queen Mary is one of the leading colleges in the federal University of London […] Its reputation sparkles thanks to high-profile professors such as Prof. Lisa Jardine, from the school of English and drama, who won the Times Higher Education Supplement's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006 and Prof. Peter Hennessy, from the department of history, who won the same award in 2008."
The Independent Online, May 2011
"Under the friendly if magisterial wing of Peter Hennessy, Queen Mary, University of London, has become a seething hotbed of popular and contemporary history. Working on a radio programme of ideas, "Start the Week", I've been struck by the quality and quantity of "Hennessy school" historians emerging, as compared, say, with what is currently happening in Oxford and Cambridge."
Andrew Marr, Intelligent Life magazine, September 2008

Our facilities…
"Queen Mary has the capital’s most extensive self-contained campus. It includes a state-of-the-art learning resource centre with 24-hour access and an award-winning student village with 2,000 en-suite rooms. An arts quarter, containing research facilities, a conference centre, drama studio and teaching space, was completed in 2006. A £15-million humanities building is due to open in autumn 2011 and a BioEnterprise Innovation Centre for science companies has opened, next door to the £44-million Blizard Building – the striking home of Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, in Whitechapel. The Centre of the Cell is also located on the Whitechapel campus, the first such facility to be based within a working medical school research laboratory to give young people a glimpse of how scientists operate."
The Times Good University Guide 2011
"Facilities: Excellent. A state-of-the-art gym and fitness centre, and refurbished Drapers bar and student union facilities. Students also have access to the world-famous Senate House library and can get involved with the University of London Union, one of the UK's largest student unions."
