Publication Scheme 2009
Purpose and structure of the scheme
Section 19 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 imposes a legal duty on all public authorities to adopt and maintain a Publication Scheme that has been approved by the Information Commissioner. A publication scheme is a guide to the information and publications that can routinely and pro-actively be made available to members of the public.
The College has adopted the Model Publication Scheme for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The scheme describes the categories and types of information available to members of the public. The College will review its scheme from time to time. Many documents are readily available at no charge from the College website at www.qmul.ac.uk. Others are available on request by email to foi-enquiries@qmul.ac.uk or in writing from the Records & Information Compliance Manager at the address below. A small charge may be made for copying some items.
The classes of information in the Publication Scheme are:
- Who we are and what we do
- What we spend and how we spend it
- What our priorities are and how we are doing
- How we make decisions
- Our policies and procedures
- Lists and registers
- The services we offer
The College works in partnership with a number of other bodies. In particular it is part of the University of London and its School of Medicine and Dentistry has close ties with the Barts and The London as well as with other NHS Trusts. Accordingly the publication schemes of partner organisations may also be relevant.
